New Faculty Institute

What is the New Faculty Institute? 

The New Faculty Institute (NFI) is a series of workshops over one day in which participants practice and build teaching skills, discuss ways to balance scholarship and teaching, and connect with a strong faculty network. 

Who can attend? 

Open to a maximum of 20 new faculty and instructors in their first three years of teaching at Cornell. A research stipend will be awarded after completion of this institute.

When is NFI? 

NFI is offered in January and August of each year.

Date: Friday, August 23, 2019; Friday, January 17, 2020 

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Desired Outcomes 

  • Support the success of new faculty by offering research-based and timesaving teaching strategies. 
  • Welcome faculty into a community of teacher-scholars and provide resources for teaching Cornell learners. 

Application Process & Deadline 

Complete the New Faculty Institute application. Deadline for applications is August 16.

Complete the New Faculty Institute application for January.
