What works? New ideas in grading and assessment

This interactive session will promote the sharing and adoption of strategies for the practical, effective assessment of student learning. It will feature faculty demonstrations of useful strategies, the chance to explore multiple applications such as Gradescope, and a poster area featuring innovations in grading and assessment tools. Join us for opportunities to explore what works for you with fellow faculty and Center for Teaching Innovation staff.

Goals of What works?

What Works? is a chance for instructors to explore new grading and assessment tools that have been tested by your peers and are proven means of enhancing education by:

  • saving you time with grading 
  • helping increase consistency
  • reinforcing learning outcomes
  • boosting student engagement
  • increasing student motivation

You will also have opportunities to explore the research behind these tools and strategies, as well as ways for effectively implementing them in your own teaching. What Works? is a chance to focus on grading and assessment as integral parts of the educational experience in your class.

Who can attend?

All Cornell instructors and teaching assistants are welcome.
