Webinars: In-Person Teaching with Remote Students

These workshops have been designed to help you create engaging, student-centered courses for Fall 2020 to fit your specific in-person teaching scenario. Taken in sequence, these 75-minute workshops will lead you through essential considerations for planning, preparing, and teaching an in-person course with access for remote students. Each workshop offers the opportunity to work on your course with assistance and feedback from our instructional designers and seek more help through individual consultations.

Planning for Fall 2020
Begin planning your Fall 2020 online course with a focus on the student experience. In this interactive workshop you will identify several strengths of online learning, choose among asynchronous and synchronous options, interpret instructional time expectations, and develop ways to identify and address student situational factors.

In-Person Teaching with Remote Students
Teaching students in socially-distanced classrooms with access for remote students allows instructors to teach in person with some adjustments. In this workshop, we will consider a range of ways to engage socially-distanced students in the classroom. We will also work with participants to identify a strategy for facilitating interaction with online students.

Teaching in socially-distanced classrooms with access for remote students involves some adaptation in approaches to assessing students’ learning. In this workshop, we will explore a range of ways to equitably structure and time assessment through hands-on activities in which participants will have the opportunity to work on their own classes.
