Canvas Outage: Recommendations
During the current extended Canvas outage, CTI recommends the following options for instructors:
Contact Students
Faculty Center is still available, and provides a single point of entry for instructors to access course information. Please note that while instructors may not be able to send nofications using Faculty Center due to an issue with PeopleSoft, they are still able to access student contact information in Faculty Center, and can then use Outlook to email their students directly.
Share Course Materials with Students
If you have an urgent need to access Canvas course materials, such as for a prelim scheduled within the next 24 hours, contact CTI for assistance at canvas@cornell.edu.
Scheduled Zoom Meetings
Meetings that are already scheduled through Canvas are available when you log in at cornell.zoom.us. You can share the meeting invites with your students via Faculty Center’s email function.
Access Submitted Work for Grading/Feedback
Access to Gradescope, an online grading tool already used in many courses at Cornell, has not been impacted by the outage. If you're already using Gradescope this semester, you can still log in and access Gradescope.com to manage your assignments and students' submissions.
If you're new to Gradescope, you may consider using this tool for online assignment submissions, either during this outage or in the future. Please see Getting Started with Gradescope for documentation and help to get started..
