CTI at a Glance Winter 2021
Winter/Spring 2021 Update
The data presented here are from September 1 – December 31, 2020
To support faculty teaching during a fall semester with both online and in-person teaching scenarios, the CTI created multiple avenues of virtual support. In addition to our regular support consultations and drop-in sessions, we continued our commitment to building an inclusive teaching environment at Cornell through our programming and learning communities.
Programming
Our online course, Teaching & Learning in the Diverse Classroom, with its facilitated learning community approach, through course designers Dr. Mathew L. Ouelett, Melina Ivanchikova, & Ana Ruival, was selected as the winner of the POD Network 2020 Innovation Award (the POD Network is the disciplinary society devoted to improving teaching and learning in higher education). This fall, we ran Teaching & Learning in the Diverse Classroom as both an online course for Cornell community and a MOOC on edx.org, available to educators worldwide.
The Cornell course was accompanied by learning communities for Faculty and Grad Students to deepen discussions and offer more opportunities to engage with other course participants around the material.
Communities of Practice
We started 2 additional learning communities: one on inclusive teaching, and one for new faculty. Both meet to discuss issues of interest to the participants and provide a space for faculty to come together and share experiences and ideas.
