Teaching Portfolio Institute
This institute is taught as a series of four workshops that will guide you through the process of developing components of an electronic teaching portfolio.
Building Your Professional Identity
- When: Tuesday, February 24, 2026, 12:00–1:15 p.m. (online via Zoom)
- This workshop will prompt participants to identify aspects of their professional identity and reflect on how they manifest in classrooms. This exploration of your values and goals will provide the foundation for building your teaching portfolio. Participants will also explore various institution types and consider how their professional identities align across these different contexts.

Writing Your Teaching Philosophy Statement
- When: Tuesday, March 3, 2026, 12:00–1:15 p.m. (online via Zoom)
- This workshop will focus on core components of a teaching statement and prompt reflection on your teaching commitments so you can tell a compelling story about your teaching journey. This workshop will be useful for people at any stage in their drafting process.

Developing Your Teaching Portfolio
- When: Tuesday, March 10, 2026, 12:00–1:15 p.m. (online via Zoom)
- Are you interested in documenting your teaching experiences for the academic job market? This workshop addresses how to document your teaching journey, gather varied sources of evidence, and how to effectively present this information while prompting you to reflect on your teaching materials and practices and how they represent the teacher you are striving to be.

Final Session: Peer Review
- When: Tuesday, March 17, 2026, 12:00–1:15 p.m. (online via Zoom)
- This workshop is for those who have completed the earlier workshops and would like a letter to document their participation in the Teaching Portfolio Institute. This capstone experience is an opportunity to assume the role of a hiring committee and evaluate components of sample teaching portfolio materials.
